About:
After participating in many career paths, Dion La Bella decided to take on the journey of a hairdresser in September 2008 as he was inspired by his father, Steve La Bella's passion and enthusiasm for the industry.
In 2009, Dion won 1st place in The Junior Freestyle in his very first hairdressing competition at the Hair and Beauty SA Awards. It was evident at this point that being a hairdresser was the best decision of his life. On 1st of September 2013, he had completed his certification and was now a qualified hairdresser.
With plenty of ambition and planning, he became co-owners of Blow- It’s a Hair Thing with Hung Tran and Steve La Bella on the 1st of September 2013. Dion believes that being in a partnership with two talented hairdressers gives the directorship a cutting edge as their strengths are utilized in different ways. The success of their partnership is evident within the opening of the second salon within a period of less than 2 years.
Dion’s obsession with hair is infectious as his passion resonates from backstage work at Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week, crowned as a National Finalist for The Wella Trend Vision two years consecutively, directing fashion shows and producing outstanding photographic images for print.
He has aspirations to educate the upcoming generation of hairdressers, not just hair technicalities but how to maximize opportunities as this is evident within himself in the continuation of participation in all facets of hairdressing. He hopes to be awarded as AHIA Best Director of The Year as it will help give Dion La Bella the confirmation and the affirmation he deserves to continually promote his ethos within the industry and beyond.
